When to Replace

Elbow fittings fail most commonly from thread damage and sealing surface degradation. The threads on either end of the elbow can be damaged by cross-threading during installation, overtightening that stretches the thread profile, or corrosion that reduces the thread engagement and load-carrying capacity. The sealing surface — whether an O-ring face, flare seat, or tapered cone — can be scored by debris or damaged by overtightening. Once the sealing surface is compromised, the fitting will leak regardless of how many times it's tightened. Replace the 561-02-82151 when threads on either end are damaged, galled, or stripped; when the sealing surface is scored, pitted, or corroded; when cracks are visible on the elbow body; or when the hex flats are rounded from improper wrench use.

Installation
